How to makes these icons:



STEP One: 100x100 document>Crop,Resize blah,blah,blah.I don´t want to over sharpen my icons,so I either sharpen the base once> and the duplicate and lower the effect or sharpen the finished icon.

STEP Two: Duplicate your base layer three times and set all copies to screen mode>100% Opacity> Fill Layer to between 50-70% depending on the quality of your image.

STEP Three: Add a levels layer with these settings: In 36/0,38/255
Out: 0/255

STEP Four: Add a Selective Coloring Layer.

Yellow:0/+9/+16/0
Reds:0/+16/+20/+20
Magentas:0/+16/0/0

STEP Five: Add a colorbalance layer:
midtones:+41/+21/-24
highlights:+15-21,-38
shadows:+18/+4/+46

STEP Six: Another New Layer>Fill w/th color: #ff787f and set to soft light mode 100%,if the effect is too strong,lower your fill layer.

Alternative: New layer> Fill w/th #005b00 and set layer mode to colorburn 100% Opacity> 39% Fill.[This step is optional but I found that the effect is stronger,more pronounced,and made the icon *pop*

STEP Seven: Go back to your base and gently smooth away any sharp edges around the eys,lips and blur the skin out a bit.[Tips of the day! You can use the Gaussian Blur tool to smooth out the skin,I use 0,5 or 1 for settings when doing so]

STEP Eight: New layer,add text and a if you wish,a brush.

Then just merge the layers.

That´s it,your done.I would love to see your results :)
